WDC’s gaming challenge Gamers for Orcas is back for a third time in 2019, this year with a brand new warm-up event!
Why not challenge friends or colleagues to a tournament, try beating your own personal best score, or even grab your PJs and set yourself up for an all-nighter with a 12 or 24 hour gaming marathon challenge? Set yourself targets, create some fun forfeits when you reach milestones and spread the word about the issues orcas face.
We have lots of tips for you, so get in contact to speak to a member of the team.
Sadly, the lives of orcas all over the world are still in danger from hunting, plastic pollution and accidental entanglement in fishing gear. They are also taken from their families in the wild for use by the captivity industry, where they are forced to live in small concrete tanks for many years and used for human ‘entertainment’.
WDC works hard to secure an end to keeping orcas and other whales and dolphins in captivity and to ensure that they are able to live with their families in their natural environment, and we need your help to carry on this important work.
Wherever you are in the world, you can help us by putting on your own gaming challenge at home, or getting together with colleagues, family or friends to raise funds for WDC’s work.
You can play whatever games you like – video games, mobile games, or even board games – set up a fundraising page and invite everyone you know to share the experience and sponsor you! There are exciting prizes for Gamers for Orcas fundraisers and ‘early birds’ will receive special game codes when they set up a page and start fundraising before 31st January 2019!
In the past two years Gamers for Orcas has helped raise a fantastic $375,000 to help our conservation work, and so we are excited to announce its return on Friday 22nd March 2019 for 24 hours, with a warm-up stream on 26th January.
If the 22nd March isn’t convenient, that’s fine too – pick a date that suits you and get ready to game for good!
