Spirtle the sunburned dolphin continues to thrive

More news on Spirtle – the now famous dolphin badly sunburned while she was stranded on the shore for 24 hours last May in the Cromarty Firth, Scotland.

WDC’s field officer, Charlie Phillips saw the bottlenose dolphin whilst out on the water a few days ago. Rescuers refloated Spirtle back in May after she became stranded but did not think she would survive as she was badly burnt. But now it seems she is thriving!

“Normally she is a bit shy about approaching boats but we caught up with her enjoying a great game of seaweed throwing” says Charlie.
