Rescued dolphin returned to sea in China

Good news from China where a rough-toothed dolphin that was found stranded in May has been successfully released back into the wild in Zhuhai in Guangdong Province.

The 2.2 metre male dolphin, which was given the name “Jiang Jiang”, was discovered on May 3rd in Heisha Bay in Jiangmen City suffering from breathing difficulties and malnutrition. A team from the the Pearl River Estuary Chinese White Dolphin National Nature Reserve took the dolphin to a pool where it was treated and able to slowly recover before being released on Thursday.
