Harbour porpoise dies at Vancouver Aquarium
A rescued harbour porpoise that had been held at the Vancouver Aquarium for nearly nine years, has died.
According to the Aquarium, a necropsy revealed the porpoise had died of pulmonary disease. The death means there are just two cetaceans still held at the Aquarium, a false killer whale and a Pacific white-sided dolphin.
In May, the Vancouver Park Board banned the Vancouver Aquarium from acquiring any new whales or dolphins, a decision it has announced it will challenge in court.
