News Just In….
Well, now I know where a lot of the regular dolphins that I see around Chanonry are at the moment – just along the coast, about 20kms away! Our friends at the Aberdeen University Lighthouse Field Station at Cromarty were out on their first Dolphin ID boat survey of this season and near the Culbin area (between Nairn and Findhorn) Barbara and the team came across around 30 dolphins just ambling along in calm, crystal clear water – so clear in fact that Barbara took this stunning photo of Rainbow’s youngster ID#1141 looking right up at her from under the surface…
Rainbow was there too, which was fantastic news as I have not personally had a good sighting of her yet this season, so was Sundance, Mischief and Spirit and baby (who I have all seen earlier last month) and also young Lunar, son of Moonlight who has been away on his travels down in the Tay Estuary last year and has returned, maybe to see how his Mum and little brother or sister is doing. Unfortunately we don’t have any news of Moonlight and baby just yet as they haven’t been spotted although some of her friends have so she might not be far away. Huge thanks to Barbara Cheney for the detailed information and for permission to use her wonderful picture on this blog. http://www.abdn.ac.uk/lighthouse/
