Whale meat chef given $5000 fine

A chef from a restaurant in Santa Monica in California, has been given a US$5000 fine after serving meat from an endangered sei whale in an airport restaurant.

The incident took place at The Hump, a former restaurant at Santa Monica airport that has now closed. The chef was found guilty for violating the US Marine Mammal Protection Act. The owner has already been sentenced and fined.
