Long distance swimmer to cross dangerous Cook Strait for WDC

He is at it again! Long distance open water swimmer, Adam Walker is to take on the Cook Strait in New Zealand this April in a bid to complete the seven hardest ocean Straits and raise money for WDC.

Incredibly, Adam has already swum five of the world’s most gruelling sea crossings; the English Channel, Spain to Morocco and back, Hawaii ‘s Molokai Straits, Catalina Island in the US and Tsugaru Straits in Japan.

Adam’s latest test is a 16 mile swim across the Cook Strait, but the strong currents are very likely to add several miles onto what is already going to be a 10 hour journey. Waves of up to 10 feet and very cold water temperatures will also make this swim extremely difficult.

“In Hawaii I was stung by a ‘man o war’ and in Japan chased by sharks. This swim will test me physically and mentally to the limit, says Adam.

“WDC has been close to my heart and I have swum for the charity for the last six years. They do an essential job to help preserve these magnificent creatures so please give generously to this worthwhile cause.”

You can offer words of encouragement and donate at Adam’s justgiving page.
