WDC features in ITV news expose on Peruvian dolphin hunts

ITV News in the UK has broadcast footage it has obtained that shows the brutal reality of dolphin hunts in Peru, thought to be the biggest illegal slaughter of its kind in the world.

Thousands of dusky dolphins have been killed in recent years by local fishermen harpooning them simply to be used as bait to catch sharks. After they are killed, most of the dolphin carcass is then simple dumped overboard.

WDC, featured in the expose, has been warning of the continued mass slaughter of dolphins around Peru for some time but the footage captured by journalist, Jim Wickens is thought to be the first time this secret hunting has been filmed.
