Iceland Minke whale hunt down on last year

The minke whale hunters in Iceland have so far landed fewer whales that this time last year. As of the 9th July less 45,344 kg had been offloaded compared to 52,718 kg 12 months ago.  One of the reasons for the shortfall could be down to the decision to expand the no whaling zone in the region by the previous Icelandic government. Sadly, the new Icelandic government looks set to reverse that decision which could have a major impact on the number of whales killed in future hunts.
