Green Gift Ideas that Give Back

We have compiled some of our favorite green gift ideas and some of them even give back.

Of course, our number one top pick is our own whale adoption. By adopting one of our six highlighted humpbacks you and your loved ones will play an active part in our work to protect whales and dolphins from the threats they face around the world. In addition to the adoption packet, you will receive regular updates throughout the year. All while knowing that you are supporting essential research that provides a better understanding of these magnificent individuals and their habitats. Where else can your holiday gift sustain proactive work that educates decision makers & influences positive legislative change?

A whale adoption is even great for those of us who procrastinate.  If your order is placed by 9:00 AM (EST) on December 24th you will receive a personalized electronic adoption notification that evening (by 6:30 pm EST) and your recipient will receive a complete adoption packet soon after. To order your whale adoption log onto whales.org or call 1-888-MY WHALE (699-4253).

Holiday for Conservation collection from The White Starfish

Another way to give a green gift that gives back to whale and dolphin conservation is The White Starfish. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from this collection will go to WDC. The collection includes hand-painted stockings, note cards, whale chalkboards, artwork by Matthew Smith and much more!

Thar She Blows! This unique art piece is bound to make a splash! Created by artist Margaret Taylor, this whale can enhance the home or garden of whale lovers and ocean enthusiasts alike. Each piece is made from reclaimed wood that still retains parts of its old finish, giving each whale a whimsical and rustic look; because each piece is constructed by hand, no two giants of the sea are exactly the same. Handcrafted in Georgia.

Birds Of A Feather, Donate Together

Help light the path to Gulf Coast wildlife relief

with these beautiful fundraising night lights. Local shore birds were devastated by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. $3.80 from the sale of each Louisiana Brown Pelican night light and the Sandpiper night light benefit Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research. Since 1976, Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research has been rehabilitating injured, orphaned and oiled wildlife. Fused from post-consumer glass bottles rescued before reaching the landfill, each handmade night light is kiln formed in Florida.

The Sea Chair Our oceans are filled with plastic waste that will never fully decompose – the pieces just get smaller and smaller, and therefore more difficult to collect. Seeking to address this pervasive problem, Britain-based Studio Swine worked with Kieren Jones to create the Sea Chair – a sturdy stool made of recycled plastic waste collected from the ocean!

Dolphin PendantsThese custom-made dolphin pendants are designed exclusively by Tribal Son and benefit SAVE THE BLUE (STB). STB focuses on marine and aquatic habitats on which we and other organisms depend for life.
