German Rock Band Bring Noise Pollution Message To UK

Popular German rock band. and long-time supporters of WDCS in Germany, Itchy Poopzkid will be touring the UK and helping to raise awareness of the threats caused by underwater noise to whales and dolphins.

Together with British band ATTACK! ATTACK!, they will be playing live in various cities including Cardiff, London, Leeds, and Glasgow between February 14th and 19th 2012.

In 2010, the band released a single “Why Still Bother“in support of WDCS anti-noise campaign, SONAR SUCKS, in Germany and they also participated at the protest event in Berlin one year after the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

Whales and dolphins rely on sound much as we rely on sight, navigating, exploring finding prey and communicating using sound.  Excessive levels of noise caused by shipping and boat traffic, military activities or from oil and gas exploration can lead to behavior changes in whales and dolphins, physical damage and even death.
